Exotic Mamaliga or Corn Upma


Am sure Indians heard of Corn Meal Upma, many might have even tasted it, but what are the chances the corn meal is the golden, best of flavour corn that grows only in a place called Moldova? Every time I go home, I bring a couple of kgs of corn meal for the authentic Mamaliga, that corn meal can hardly be found in the same ground texture anywhere else. Besides, it comes from our own corn field, treated with Love, not GMO-s and what not. Perfect Marriage. Spices,  and corn meal. The rest is just addition to the picture.

O Come, All Ye Faithful....Happy Valentine's Day


 A surprise for Valentine's Day my husband did not expect, amidst  my shuffling in the kitchen with "practicing this sugarpaste technique" and "that recipe needs a try". Oh well....10 Valentines together- I failed at the rose counting.... I did... Never start counting from 0 (and I am not even in IT).  

Triple dark chocolate- from batter, to icing and glazing- not for the faint of heart! but so good. Sugarpaste rosed made by me {With Love},

Savory Bread- A Yummy Heart for Hungry Valentines



This would fall under the "quick breads" label.....Made with self raising flour, butter, black olives and sun dried tomatoes, topped with mozzarella cheese, it was so good that no crumbs were left behind. And what better way to show off the "love is in the air" than a heart shaped loaf! I guess it's all hearts this month :)

A Heart Cake- You Are What You Eat- Sweet for the Sweet


My little Malini loves watching me decorate cakes, but most of the time she has to see the cakes leave the house. Where? I dunno :) she says. So I make sure I make a bit more raw material so I can  fix her a little treat. But they have to resemble the cakes that leave, you know! So it was the case for this one  (that left the house:). And a cake was in order, this one to stay.


And there is one more secret, which I guess happens to one and only child families- we celebrate Month Birthdays! ...usually a little "happy birthday" hum so neighbors cannot hear us and a Sweet Treat! Can you say NO? Eggless, fondant covered, buttercream filled....YUM. Sweet....

Crispy Seaweed- Delicious.

Hankering for a delicious snack? that too, something crunchy but still melting in your mouth? Try this Chinese vegetarian delight: crispy seaweed. And no, do not deep fry seaweed, although the name might tempt you! use Bok Choy, the green part. Once ready, sprinkle some sliced almonds and sea salt Yum. 

Want to make the best use of that oil? try a batch of deep fried tofu- healthy. Deep fried foods can do you good, they posses Yang qualities. Just try to incorporate some Yin to balance.
